Give me a Freakin' Break!

Is it just me or is it that Americans feel that winning the Fifa Womens' World Cup is our birth right?

As if watching a football (soccer) match with an American commentator isn't cruel enough punishment, those of us who reside in the US are being fed with doses of nonsense football analysis by people who don't know the freaking game in the first place.

Unless I watched a different soccer game today, Brazil completely annihilated the US in the semi-final game 4-0.

Yet, the BASEBALL analysts on ESPN are blaming the coach for the defeat because he switch the "starting keeper," Hope Solo for Brianna Scurry. None of those idiots mentioned the fact that the US team had 4 shots on goal and none on target. No one is giving the Brazilians the credit they deserve.

From the defense to their attack, they were perfect every aspect of the game and they executed their game plan with pin-point accuracy. The US came into the game without taking into account that the Brazilians were just as determined to win the world cup.

They conveniently placed the blame squarely on Brianna Scurry. If I'm not mistaking, it was the same Scurry who won the 1999 World Cup for the US. She was the one who single-handedly won the 2004 Olympic gold medal for the US. She fumbles on goal out of four, and some white dude who has never kicked a football in his life, will assume that she was the reason they lost today's game.

At the end of the game, Hope Solo went on camera and disrespected her coach, the team and Scurry by saying that she would have made those saves. She feels that Scurry is yesterday's news. Okay Solo, if I recall correctly, the first game against North Korea, we would have won that game but you let two goals slip through your fingers. You lack professionalism, respect and tact. Perhaps the coach choose experience over your childishness.

Maybe if the US defender wouldn't have scored and own-goal even when the keeper called for the ball, the US would have not started on a bad note...OR maybe if the US defense had shown up today to play a world cup match, Brazil's Marta will not run through them like there were not there. Maybe if we realize that the rest of the world have improved, then we will learn how to respect other people. It's not all about US all the time. We have to respect people in everything and maybe with enough hard work, we will win.

Its just sickening!
